Top Web Hosting Companies in Kenya 2027

TL;DR: Quick Summary

Kenya has plenty of local hosting options, and they differ more in what is included than in the headline price. Safaricom is the lowest entry price at KES 1,500 a year, HostPinnacle and HostAfrica include a free domain, Truehost has the biggest plan ladder, and Hosting.com lists its plans in Kenya shillings. Below are five web hosting companies in Kenya with their plans, prices and renewal terms, plus how to choose. Need help? See Studio6’s website design and hosting services.

If you want to host your website with a provider that prices in Kenya shillings, you have more choice than most people realise. Prices start low, but plans differ a lot in storage, free extras and what happens at renewal, so the cheapest plan is rarely the best fit.

This guide compares five web hosting companies for Kenya. It covers local providers plus Hosting.com, an international host that publishes a Kenya shilling price list. If you are open to hosts based overseas, read our guide to international web hosting for Kenyan businesses too.

Status note: this post reflects public information available on 1 November 2026. Plans, prices and terms change, so confirm details with the provider before you buy. We are not sponsored by any provider mentioned here.

5 Web Hosting Companies in Kenya, Compared (2027)

These are not ranked. Each suits a different budget and type of website. Prices are in Kenya shillings, as listed by each provider.

Web hosting companies in Kenya at a glance (entry-level shared plan)

Safaricom KES 1,500 a year Lowest entry price; six plans from 500 MB to 100 GB; domains from the same store Small informational sites on a tight budget
Hosting.com KES 200 a month (4-year term) Shilling price list for Kenya; free managed migration on Starter; 4-year terms Businesses moving an existing site who will commit long term
HostPinnacle KES 4,200 a year NVMe storage, free domain, free SSL, cPanel, free M-Pesa integration WordPress and small business sites that want a free domain

1. Safaricom

  • Hosting style: shared hosting, with domain registration from the same store
  • Billing: yearly, in Kenya shillings
  • Best for: small informational sites on a tight budget

Safaricom’s appeal is that it is a familiar local brand with shilling pricing, and you can register a domain and buy hosting in the same store. Its six shared plans run from Bronze at KES 1,500 a year (500 MB of storage, 10 email accounts) to Enterprise Plus at KES 9,000 a year (100 GB, 1,000 email accounts), all with unlimited bandwidth.

The plans page lists storage, email accounts, subdomains and FTP accounts, but does not state the number of websites, backups, SSL or the control panel. Ask about those before you buy, and note that 500 MB on Bronze is tight for a WordPress site with images. We could not find a public statement on its PHP2Shell response, so ask Safaricom directly.

2. Hosting.com

  • Hosting style: shared hosting, with managed servers also available
  • Billing: 4-year term, with prices listed in Kenya shillings
  • Best for: businesses moving an existing site who will commit long term

Hosting.com is the brand formerly known as A2 Hosting, and its Kenya page lists plans in shillings. The Starter plan is KES 200 a month for 5 websites and 15 GB of NVMe storage, with a free domain and free managed migration. Pro (KES 360 a month) and Max (KES 960 a month) add more websites, storage and, on Max, 40 mailboxes.

The low price applies to a 4-year term, which means KES 9,600 upfront on Starter, and renewal is KES 500 a month, so work out the full cost before you commit. During the PHP2Shell response it rolled out patches for every PHP version on its cPanel and Plesk shared hosting and managed servers, and on 22 October it pointed customers to the PHP build date to confirm the fix.

3. HostPinnacle

  • Hosting style: shared hosting on LiteSpeed with cPanel; WordPress, reseller and managed VPS plans also listed
  • Billing: yearly, in Kenya shillings, excluding VAT
  • Best for: WordPress and small business sites that want a free domain included

HostPinnacle’s shared plans are Starter (KES 4,200 a year), Standard (KES 5,200) and Executive (KES 12,500), plus a Hosting Only plan at KES 2,875 that does not list a free domain. Starter, Standard and Executive include a free .co.ke, .com or .org domain, and all four plans list free SSL, NVMe storage from 35 GB to unlimited, Node.js and Python support, and free M-Pesa integration for your site.

Its pricing page does not show renewal prices, so ask what each plan costs after the first year. It also lists WordPress hosting from KES 4,200 a year, reseller hosting from KES 840 a month and managed VPS from KES 3,000 a month. We could not find a public statement on its PHP2Shell response.

4. Truehost

  • Hosting style: shared web hosting in three plans
  • Billing: monthly, quarterly, 6 months, yearly, 2 years or 3 years, in Kenya shillings
  • Best for: agencies and businesses running several websites

Truehost has three plans. Starter hosts 10 websites with 30 GiB of SSD storage at KES 2,500 billed annually, Pro hosts 30 websites with 50 GB at KES 5,250, and Unlimited hosts unlimited websites with unmetered SSD storage at KES 21,750. Starter and Pro include daily backups, Unlimited includes automatic backups, and Unlimited also lists a free .CO.KE domain on the annual plan.

The yearly prices above renew at the same monthly rate, according to Truehost’s pricing page. Prices change with the term you choose, so look at the billing cycle selector on the page before you compare. We could not find a public statement on its PHP2Shell response.

5. HostAfrica

  • Hosting style: shared hosting on DirectAdmin, in four plans
  • Billing: prepaid for one year, in Kenya shillings
  • Best for: sites that need plenty of email accounts and backups included

HostAfrica’s four plans (Starter, Basic, Power and Business) all include a free .co.ke domain, free Let’s Encrypt SSL, free daily backups with JetBackup, unlimited bandwidth and a free site builder. Email accounts go from 25 on Starter and 100 on Basic to unlimited on Power and Business, and the plans host from 2 to 20 websites.

The prices shown are monthly equivalents of a one-year prepayment, with 50% off in the first year. Renewal is double the first-year rate. The page also says HostAfrica may throttle speeds for customers who go over 500 GB of traffic a month, despite the unlimited bandwidth label. We could not find a public statement on its PHP2Shell response.

Web Hosting Prices and Plans in Kenya (2027)

Prices are quoted differently from one provider to the next, so compare them carefully. Safaricom and Truehost list yearly prices. HostAfrica and Hosting.com advertise a monthly figure that depends on paying upfront for a year or for four years. HostPinnacle lists its prices excluding VAT, and the other providers do not say whether VAT is included.

Truehost web hosting plans

Truehost web hosting plans (KES, yearly billing)
Plan Price per month Billed per year Renews at, per month What you get
Starter KES 208.33 KES 2,500 KES 208.33 10 websites, about 25,000 visits a month, 30 GiB SSD, free daily backups

HostAfrica web hosting plans

HostAfrica web hosting plans (KES per month, prepaid for one year)
Plan First-year price per month Renews at, per month Websites Storage Email accounts
Starter KES 210 KES 420 2 20 GB SSD 25
Basic KES 315 KES 630 5 40 GB SSD 100
Power KES 472.50 KES 945 10 100 GB SSD Unlimited
Business KES 699.50 KES 1,399 20 200 GB SSD Unlimited

HostAfrica shows its prices as monthly equivalents of a one-year prepayment, so the first year of Starter costs KES 2,520 (12 x KES 210) and renewal is KES 5,040 a year (12 x KES 420). The same arithmetic gives KES 3,780, KES 5,670 and KES 8,394 for the first year of Basic, Power and Business. All plans include a free .co.ke domain, free SSL, daily backups and unlimited bandwidth, subject to the 500 GB throttling note above.

Prices come from provider pricing pages as of 1 November 2026, and several providers change them often. Confirm the price, the billing term and the renewal rate at checkout.

How to Choose a Web Host in Kenya

  • The lowest possible price for a small site: Safaricom Bronze or Silver, or Truehost Starter. Check that 500 MB or 2 GB of storage is enough for your pages and images.
  • A free domain included: HostPinnacle and HostAfrica include one on their paid plans, and Truehost Unlimited includes one on the annual plan.
  • Plenty of business mailboxes: HostAfrica Power and Business have unlimited email accounts, and Safaricom Enterprise Plus has 1,000. For a business that depends on email, read our guide to the best business email hosting providers in Kenya before using bundled hosting email.
  • Several websites on one plan: Truehost Pro and Unlimited, Hosting.com Pro and Max, and HostAfrica Business suit agencies and owners of more than one site.
  • Always compare the renewal price, not just the first bill, and ask who handles server updates and security patching on the plan.

Who Handles Security Updates on Your Hosting Plan?

On 21 October 2026, PHP released emergency fixes for two critical flaws known as PHP2Shell. A website can be well built and still be exposed if the server software underneath it is out of date, so it is worth asking your host who handles updates.

Of the five providers here, only Hosting.com has a public PHP2Shell status that we could find, in a timeline kept by webhosting.today. For the others, ask in writing whether the flaw is fixed on your plan, and check the PHP build date in phpinfo(). Our guide to why patching responsibility matters explains what to look for.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best web hosting companies in Kenya?

Five providers worth comparing are Safaricom, Hosting.com, HostPinnacle, Truehost and HostAfrica. They are not ranked, because the right one depends on your budget, how much storage and how many mailboxes you need, and whether you want a free domain or daily backups included.

How much does web hosting cost in Kenya?

Shared hosting from the providers compared here starts at about KES 1,500 a year for Safaricom Bronze, which has 500 MB of storage. Plans with more space, a free domain or daily backups are mostly KES 2,500 to KES 5,250 a year, larger plans run from about KES 7,000 to KES 12,500 a year, and Truehost Unlimited is KES 21,750 a year. Always check the renewal price.

Which Kenyan web hosts include a free domain?

HostPinnacle includes a free .co.ke, .com or .org domain on its Starter, Standard and Executive plans, and HostAfrica includes a free .co.ke domain on all four of its plans. Truehost lists a free .CO.KE domain on its Unlimited plan when you pay annually, and Hosting.com lists a free domain on its Starter plan. Check the conditions at checkout.

Should I host my website in Kenya or abroad?

Kenyan providers offer shilling pricing and local support, while international hosts often have stronger managed tooling and more plan choices. Compare the specific plan, its renewal price and who handles server updates, not the country. Our guide to international web hosting for Kenyan businesses covers the overseas options.

How do I check if my host has fixed PHP2Shell?

Ask your host in writing whether the PHP2Shell flaw is fixed on your plan. Then check the PHP build date in phpinfo(), because hosts often backport the fix and the version number alone can mislead. A build date of 21 October 2026 or later suggests the fix is in.
